Can One Man Save a Nation on the Edge?
Michael Skeen writes gripping political thrillers inspired by a life of service, faith, and a deep concern for the future of America.

A Life of Service
A Story That Needed to Be Told
I didn’t grow up thinking I’d become a writer. I just wanted to serve my country and do what was right.
After high school in Florissant, Missouri, I joined the United States Air Force. I believed the government always told the truth and that politicians had our best interests at heart. I also believed the media gave us the full story. It didn’t take long, especially after my time in Vietnam, to realize that wasn’t always true.
When I left the military, I became a police officer in St. Louis County. I was trained to lead with compassion, to stand for truth, and to serve with integrity. But the first department I joined didn’t share those values. I was told to forget what I’d learned and follow orders, even when it didn’t feel right. So I walked away.
Thankfully, I found another department where people did things differently. Eventually, I joined the O’Fallon Police Department. I spent 28 years there, surrounded by officers who believed in honest, hard work and putting people first.
Over the years, I saw firsthand how politics really works. There were a few good ones, leaders who genuinely cared, but more often, I saw people in power focused on staying in power. It frustrated me, and it made me worry about where we’re headed.
After I retired, I moved to the Gulf Coast for a while, then came back home to be closer to my grandkids. But I couldn’t stop thinking about everything I’d seen. So I started writing. Not just to entertain, but to raise a red flag.

My stories are about what could happen if we don’t wake up and start paying attention. They’re fiction, but the truth behind them is very real.
I hope the books make you think. I hope they stir something in you the way writing them stirred something in me.
Thanks for reading. It means more than you know.

The Cost of Freedom
One man’s mission to fix the system turns into a fight to save the country he loves.

The Cost of Liberty
Standing up for liberty sounds noble, until it means standing alone.

The Cost of Justice
In Washington, justice doesn’t come easy. And it never comes clean.
“We can’t rely on our own strength or position. There’s always someone stronger. What we need is God’s guidance, integrity, and the courage to do what’s right, even when it’s hard.”
